What each column tells you
- 24h. Last price on Coinbase Exchange against the price 24 hours earlier. The arrow and the sign carry the direction; the colour only repeats it.
- Price. Last trade on Coinbase Exchange, in US dollars.
- 24h volume. Dollars traded on Coinbase Exchange and Kraken combined. This is the figure the floor applies to.
- vs 30d avg. Today’s volume as a multiple of the average day in the last 30. Values of 2× and above are set in bold.
- Below 24h high. How far the last price is under the day’s highest price, as a share of that high. It is the number behind the “distance from the 24h high” filter, and sorting it puts the coins closest to their peak first.
- 24h range. A rule from the day’s low to its high, with a tick where the last price sits. A gainer whose tick is far from the right end has already given part of the move back.
- Venues & diff. CB for Coinbase Exchange, KR for Kraken, with the price gap and volume difference between them when both quote the asset. Select the column header to sort by the price gap.

Why the smallest markets are hidden
The same boat floats on a lake and sits on the ground next to a puddle. Liquidity works the same way: in a market where millions of dollars trade each day, an order of a few thousand barely moves the price. In a market that trades a few thousand dollars a day, that order is the price.
Lists of top gainers without a volume filter are, in practice, lists of the thinnest markets, and thin markets are where coordinated buying followed by a sudden exit is cheapest to run. The default floor of $1,000,000 removes those rows. Choosing “All” brings them back, hatched and labelled thin, so the difference is visible before the percentage is read.
The floor is not a seal of quality. Assets above it fall too, as the top crypto losers table shows every day. More on our data criteria is on the methodology and formulas guide, operator details are on the About Gainers Today page, and data inquiries can be submitted via Contact Gainers Today.
What this site does differently
Six things you can check on the page itself.
The volume floor is on by default
A market needs at least $1,000,000 traded in 24 hours to be ranked. You can raise the floor to $10M or remove it; removing it marks every thin row.
Exchange data only
Prices and volumes come from the public market-data APIs of Coinbase Exchange and Kraken. No scraped screens, no unlicensed stock feeds.
The collection time is on every table
One snapshot is collected every 15 minutes and shown with its time in UTC. A snapshot older than 40 minutes is labelled as delayed.
Losers get the same table
The decline ranking uses the same columns, floor and source as the advance ranking, one link away.
No invented reasons
There is no "why it moved" column and no overbought or oversold label, because the sources carry neither.
Readable without colour
Every change has an arrow and a plus or minus sign, so green and red are never the only signal.
Questions and answers
How is the 24-hour change calculated?
It is the last traded price on Coinbase Exchange divided by the price 24 hours earlier, minus one. The window rolls: at 14:35 UTC it compares against 14:35 UTC of the previous day, not against midnight.
What does "vs 30d avg" mean?
It is the volume traded in the last 24 hours divided by the average daily volume of the last 30 days, both on Coinbase Exchange. 1.0× is an ordinary day; 3.0× means three times the usual activity. A large gain on ordinary or low volume deserves more caution than one on heavy volume.
What does "Below 24h high" show?
How far the last price sits under the highest price of the last 24 hours, as a share of that high: (high − last price) ÷ high. "At high" means the last trade is the high. A small figure means the coin is holding its peak; a large one means it has handed back part of the move. It describes the past day only and does not predict the next move.
What is the volume column measuring?
Dollars traded in 24 hours on the two venues combined: the Coinbase Exchange volume in units of the asset times its last price, plus the Kraken volume times its 24-hour volume-weighted average price.
How does the side-by-side exchange comparison work?
For assets quoted on both Coinbase Exchange and Kraken, this site compares their market data side by side. It calculates the price difference (in dollars and percentage gap) and the 24-hour volume difference (showing which exchange carries more trading activity), alongside Coinbase’s 24-hour price range and Kraken’s bid-ask spread. Select any coin to open its full side-by-side comparison matrix.
Why are stablecoins not ranked?
Tokens pegged to a currency, such as USDT and USDC, move by hundredths of a percent and trade enormous volume. They would add noise to the rankings and dominate the heatmap, so they are left out of both.
Can I sort by another column?
Yes. Select a column head to sort by it, and again to reverse the order. The rank number keeps showing each asset’s position by 24-hour change.
